Spacebomb is an idea (that you can do great things together), a community (Richmond, Virginia) and a studio (Spacebomb Studio). We have also been a record label, a production house, a publisher, and a management company. Spacebomb was founded sometime in the late aughts by an ambitious group of friends and was fully manifested in 2012 with the release of founder Matthew E. White’s Big Inner. Although self-recorded and self-released completely outside the drumbeat of the existent music industry Big Inner went on to widespread international acclaim and catapulted our homegrown company into some sort of professional legitimacy.

For close to a decade we released records we were proud of, produced artists who sought us out, managed artists we thought were culturally important and recorded anyone who wanted to come visit. In 2023, after weathering a brutal pandemic we placed the label on extended sabbatical and currently focus entirely on building our studio into a completely intentional one-of-a-kind recording space and lovingly attend to our past catalogue.

All things are possible, the future is bright and the past is remembered with joy. Most importantly the road between the two never ceases to surprise. Keep your ear to the ground and come visit.
