Howard Ivans – ‘Beautiful Tired Bodies’ – Out Sep. 22

Beautiful Tired Bodies packshot

Howard Ivans is back, this time with his full-length debut album. Beautiful Tired Bodies is pure magic, a soft funk tone poem to lost identity, the grip of love, and trying to live in the present as time rushes under the bridge. “Frame it, display it, something Renoir would have painted,” he declares in the first single “Denise,” which you can hear now.

Beautiful Tired Bodies will be released September 22, 2017. It’s available on limited edition metallic gold vinyl with an exclusive screenprint designed and printed by Spacebomb art director Travis Robertson (a pre-order exclusive, limited to 100 units), standard black vinyl, CD, and digital download. Add on the Red Face Boy 7″ for just $3.

Fall down the rabbit hole of Ivan Howard’s alter ego and wake up in a stylized soundscape, surrounded by twisting melodies and singing shadows. Beautiful Tired Bodies is the latest installment of chromatic-eyed soul from the man who brought us 2013’s “magnificent art-funk treasure” (SPIN) and “a symphonic funkscape worthy of Quincy Jones” (UNCUT), “Red Face Boy b/w Pillows.” Talking to the mirror in the man, Howard Ivans delivers his full-length debut, co-produced by Trey Pollard and Cameron Ralston, featuring the Spacebomb house band and a VIP list of Richmond musicians. The experience is immersive, a headlong rush, shot through with highlights like Pollard’s transfixing string arrangements and bold keyboard riffs from Devonne Harris (Stones Throw). Howard Ivans stands in the spotlight, a man who once recorded a bold, song-by-song remake of Sade’s Love Deluxe, delivering a new soft funk tone poem, a voice crooning out in the wilderness. Read more about Howard Ivans.
